Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) is responsible for the registration and inspection of schools and childcare providers. They make sure children and young people are cared for, in a safe and secure environment and that a high standard of care and education is provided.
Ofsted Requirements
Nannies wishing to register with the Voluntary Ofsted Childcare Register (vOCR) will need to meet certain criteria.
They must:
- Be able to show that they have had appropriate training or experience covering the common core skills in childcare
- Be able to show that they are suitable to work with children.
- Have public liability insurance
- Have a valid paediatric first-aid certificate
- Have an enhanced DBS check; this will be done as part of the registration process unless your previous one was done through Ofsted
